Book Review: Watch Out For Her by Samantha M. Bailey

Seriously, watch out!

Except wassup with finding hidden cameras in their new house? And the strange anonymous texts landing regularly in Sarahโ€™s phone? Has Holly followed them? What lengths will she go to to reclaim her โ€œnew familyโ€?

๐Ÿ’ก๐“๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ: Ahhh the psycho babysitter is a bit clichรฉ so I worried at first it would be another โ€œbeen there, read thatโ€ situation, but nope; this book is written well and the plot advanced quickly. The โ€œdomestic thrillerโ€ has become a difficult one to navigate since Gone Girl and a heap of wanting-to-be-that books lined up behind it (leading to tropes galore!), but Watch Out separates itself by being a bit less โ€œshockingโ€ and a bit more character driven, with constant questioning of which of these well-painted characters are trustworthy.

Alternating between Sarah and Hollyโ€™s POV, it becomes clear we could have an unreliable narratorโ€ฆ or do we? Or are they both unreliable? Or are they both truthful? Layering their personal lives, outlooks, and motivations (including flaws) made for a riveting foil relationship between the two women.

Only issue was that the ending was predictable, but the reading ride was smoothly paved and enjoyable with only those minor bumps.
